Kristy Swanson Is Pro-Buffy The Vampire Movie

Kristy Swanson has taken a different opinion to Joss Whedon regarding the Warner Bros. redo of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. FilmShaft thinks its sacrilege and will continue to do so because nothing will ever beat the t.v. series or Joss Whedon. Ever.

Anyhoo. Swanson spoke very recently about the whole farrago and thinks its a great idea, then asked for a role since she, on a technicality, is the first embodiment of Buffy Summers.

“If they wanted me to be a part of it, I think that would be fantastic and that it would be a blast.”

Nobody’s asked. She went on to say:

“There are die-hard Joss Whedon fans who absolutely love him to death, and rightly so; he’s a brilliant man, no doubt. I love everything Buffy. I don’t care who’s doing it.”

Apparently EW asked Side Show Luke Perry for a comment but he was unavailable. Probably off somewhere with his half-brother Krusty The Clown and Mr. Tiny.

The 1992 movie – which Whedon doesn’t like – starred Kristy Swanson, Donald Sutherland, Rutger Hauer, Paul Reubens and David Arquette. It’s not dreadful but it’s not the television show either. The makers Fran and Rubel Kuzui clearly didn’t get Whedon’s material.

Will fans warm to the project in time or is it opening a Hellmouth of anger and resentment?
