New Trailer For Clash Of The Titans

The first bone-crunching trailer has been released for Louis Leterrier’s latest blockbuster offering – Clash of the Titans! Featuring an all-star cast including Sam Worthington, Gemma Arterton, Liam Neeson and Pete Postlethwaite, the film is a modern take on the classic 1981 original.

The trailer itself (more a teaser really), features some spectacular looking scenes and a killer soundtrack, all while cleverly giving very little of the story away. Clash of the Titans storms UK theaters on 26th March 2010, check out the brand new trailer below.

In “Clash of the Titans,” the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.

New Image Released From Straw Dogs Remake

It’s taken absolutely ages for Rod Lurie’s remake of ‘Bloody’ Sam Peckinpah’s classic, Straw Dogs, to see the light of day. If you thought it was gonna be all clotted cream and shotguns again, you’d be wrong. The Screen Gems release has relocated the action to the US and the deep South.

The 1971 original pitted an American academic played by Dustin Hoffman against some Cornish weirdos when he moves to the area with his wife. The geek finds his inner psycho – and a shotgun – and kicks off. The third act is a little like Night of the Living Dead but with mad locales and an even madder central character shooting stuff and yelling “I will not allow violence against this house!”

Straw Dogs caused controversy in the UK due to a rape scene in which it implies the female character, the academic’s wife and local lass, is getting off on it a little bit. The remake has got a fine cast in James Marsden, Kate Bosworth, Alexander Skarsgard, James Woods, Dominic Purcell and Willa Holland.

One can’t help but feel the relocation is going to make this a little less unique. There will be Cornish pasties has been replaced with there will be yokels. A new image has appeared online via Yahoo! depicting what looks like a tense scene involving Marsden’s lead character, David Sumner.

“David and Amy Sumner (James Marsden and Kate Bosworth), a Hollywood screenwriter and his actress wife, return to her small hometown in the deep South to prepare the family home for sale after her father’s death. Once there, tensions build in their marriage and old conflicts re-emerge with the locals, including Amy’s ex-boyfriend Charlie (Skarsgård), leading to a violent confrontation.”

New Alice In Wonderland Concept Art Stills

It’s always nice to the creative process from its origins to its finished product. Pre-production is cinema’s most furtive period. It’s where everything is devised and the makers hope it all comes together during the filming and editing. Here’s some fun concept art Tim Burton and his team came up with whilst putting together his vision of Wonderland. They are art pieces in themselves.

Recently, Burton had a retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Which goes to show his standing in the film world. I still can’t forgive him for Planet of the Apes though. I especially like the Knave of Hearts sketch that looks like a cross between Irish writer James Joyce and Beavis from Beavis and Butthead. Probably just a coincidence, but it’s uncanny!
